START: Tech Help for Students
The START Program offered tech support for students at Mount Royal University from 1998 to 2018. I was asked to revitalize the program by creating a branding guideline for new marketing materials. Unfortunately, the program was shut down due to budget contraints.
The program already had an identity associated with it, including a wordmark and a green and purple colour palette. To maintain brand recognition, these items stayed similar, but were cleaned up and refined. Two more colours and a pattern were added to allow more flexibility in the designs.
The refresh also included the addition of Techy the Robot. As the program's mascot he needed to represent technology while also showcasing the helpful, friendly nature of START’s student employees. Techy became the star of START and appeared on posters, brochures, buttons, and videos.
